I Loved Interstellar
I thought the movie was a triumph, so hearing some critics hated it is baffling. Continue reading “I Loved Interstellar”
More Jedi concepts, and some storyboards
Some more quick crappy art, to facilitate a mostly private conversation for a long simmering project. Continue reading “More Jedi concepts, and some storyboards”
Jedi Concept Art
Started working on visual effects for Alan Winston’s Jedi6 project again recently. Briefly obsessed over the idea of designing all CGI objects with elements from the old KBVRtv studio. Which led to these quick concept sketches. Continue reading “Jedi Concept Art”
some final movie reviews? (before getting back to work!)
Been jotting down a lot of notes, and obsessing in my spare time, about vidHero and Space Cops (which will now be renamed “Space Crimes”)(or maybe “Space Privates.” not sure.). Occurs to me I should just start posting my notes about characters and plot for vidHero here in the development blog. why not? better than babbling about movies and video games and science and society.
So, hopefully this will be the last pseudo-critique post for a while. Watched a bunch of movies and tv this weekend. fun. relaxing. but also like gorging at mcDonald’s. Still feel kind of weird and sluggish.
… nothing was worth a big dedicated blog post review. but some quick thoughts follow:

G.I.blow – 1/5 chevrons
Despite not getting enough sleep for several days, I decided to stay up late and watch G.I.Joe: Retaliation last night. Huge mistake.

man of steel / aliens of doom
I walked out of the Man of Steel FURIOUS that it wasn’t the Superman movie I wanted. (much like I was furious star trek into darkness ruined the idealism of star trek. and was… “slightly perturbed” that Iron Man 3 had Tony Stark fighting some uzi holding body guards at a florida drug fortress. each of these movies pushed their established tones into strange new places). But I’m coming around.

Mad Max 2 : The Road Warrior : 100000 /10
Man.
I haven’t slept more than a couple hours in days now. Throat is raw and i’m getting sick. But I couldn’t resist making a bowl of cereal and heading downstairs to watch Mad Max 2 (aka The Road Warrior).
It’s been several years since I last watched it all the way through. It might be my favorite movie of all time?

Oscar noms, and the Life of Pincoln
Did I write about great Cloud Atlas was? I just assumed I wouldn’t need to talk about it any more, but should probably check if I ever did write about it publicly. (ed: nope! dammit.)
So, I’ve watched half of the best picture noms from the last academy awards ceremony, and Cloud Atlas still stands out as the best movie made last year. Very sad that it wasn’t nominated.
But here are a few thoughts on the other contenders I’ve seen. I’ll be brief. Spoilers abound. Continue reading “Oscar noms, and the Life of Pincoln”
